Gurugram-based healthcare chain startup Sukoon Health has raised $15 million led by Lightrock India.
Lightrock India has acquired a significant stake in the startup as part of the deal.
Besides, Lightrock India’s partner Saleem Asaria will serve as the executive chairman of Sukoon, while Sukoon’s founders – Vidit and Kanishk – will take senior leadership roles in the startup.
However, there is a severe shortage of specialists to provide care, with only an estimated 10,000 psychiatrists and 1000 clinical psychologists practicing in India. Patients, therefore, have limited options with over 90 percent not accessing any form of quality care.
Founded in 2020 by Vidit Bahri and Kanishk Gupta, Sukoon is a psychiatric facility startup that treats psychiatric and psychological conditions. It also offers online healthcare services such as drug and habit de-addiction and geriatric psychiatry, among others.
Lightrock India had recently led a $33 million Series B round in the diabetes care platform BeatO. The fund’s portfolio included Medybuddy, Shiprocket, Scaler, Axio, Cuemath, PharmEasy, CredAvenue, DeHaat, and Porter among others.
