Foodtech unicorn Zomato has said that its mobile app is now available in Hindi and some other regional languages such as Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Punjabi, Marathi, Tamil and Telugu.
Zomato is presently delivering over 150K orders every month through the regional languages versions of its app. Of these orders, Hindi and Tamil account for 54% and 11%, respectively, while the remaining languages are rapidly growing, Zomato told Business Standard.
The online food delivery platform consolidated net loss decreased to Rs 251 crore for the September quarter, against Rs 430 crore in net loss in the same quarter last year.
The revenue went up to Rs 1,661 crore against Rs 1,024 crore in the year-ago period, a significant 62.2 per cent jump, the company had said in a statement.
“This is the first quarter where we have crossed the billion dollar annualised revenue mark (at $1.05 billion),” said Zomato.
Earlier in the week, the food aggregatr had sacked alost 4 percent of it workforce across functions. Alos, the co-founder had resigned just days before the layoff.
The company has seen three high-profile executives departing in the past two weeks, with co-founder Mohit Gupta being the most recent exit. Before him, Rahul Ganjoo, head of new initiatives at the company, had resigned, while Siddharth Jhawar, head of intercity legends, the company’s inter-state delivery service, had quit a week before.
The food aggregator also reported that its net loss narrowed to Rs 251 crore for the July-September quarter, from Rs 429.6 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year, the company said in a regulatory filing.
