Government Announces 75 Amrit Grants For Biotech Startups

Union Minister of Science and Technology Dr Jitendra Singh declared the 75 Amrit grants for the biotech ecosystem, which includes startups, companies, academia, and research bodies in integrated collaboration on Monday. The DBT-BIRAC75 Amrit team grant program, according to the minister’s statement, will give a boost to Prime Minister’s call for’Jai Anusandhan. Will be considered for support under this initiative, promising research proposals, high-risk, milestone-driven collaborative research for knowledge-based insights with broad demonstrable application from both academia and industry will be considered for support, and it also aims to propel India to a global position.

PIB press release states that these grants will be aimed at inter-disciplinary, multi-institutional projects, with a milestones-driven approach within the biotech industry, according to a PIB press release. Multiple Bodies can form a Team Science Grant body and apply for a Rs 10-15 crore grant over a two to three-year period.

Union Minister also spoke about some government co-creative initiatives on mental health and pre-term birth, bioenergy, and INSACOG, and he said they are among the many cross-disciplinary, multi-institutional initiatives supported by the department of biotechnology.
